I :  Portrait Three

I have stayed busy here. I like it. I went into the studio last night. Stretched canvas on two of the stretchers I made over the weekend and worked a bit on a small painting I am doing. As for Winona, I think I could let her stretch some things other than canvas if she is looking for something to do. Litho went well also but I was in the printshop until after 8. Started and finished (I think) another painting. I have done something like this before. I really enjoyed it (I guess I am easily amused).

Friday I went for a very long bike ride way out of town. I had a good, productive weekend, read a little Roland Barthes (in a pub with a pint of Bass in front of me- until it was in me). "The object is not to study society, but to change it" was written by Marx a few years before Barthes basically wrote the same thing in the last paragraph of the essay I was reading. (But Barthes would probably smile and say that proves that it is impossible to write anything new.) It was really hot, got to 100 almost everyday, but I drove around in a rental car that was air conditioned and saw some parts of Texas I had never seen before (although they looked a lot like the parts I had seen).

I have been doing stuff around the house trying to get a lot of it done before school starts. I had lasagna again, and will have it again tonight. I think it is sufficiently ambiguous that you could make it into an elk or something (since you got an eel out of the other one)... This weekend I will likely mow the lawn (hopefully for the last time this summer) and put new ropes in some of the windows (whenever I type mum I feel like I am talking about some flower).
